Leeds won 2-1 in front of 20,000 supporters at Elland Road with both Australians involved in talking points.

An Andy Robinson penalty and a goal from Luciano Becchio gave Leeds a 2-0 lead but the visitors pulled one back on 71 minutes.

There seemed to be some confusion over the scorer however, with some sources crediting Nix with the goal, others suggesting that colleague Barry Conlon got the final touch.

As for Kilkenny, he breathed a sigh of relief in the first half as his clearance cannoned back off United goalkeeper Dave Lucas and into the net, only for an offside flag to rescue the home team.
