Kilkenny, 25, snubbed his latest contract offer from Leeds at the end of last month after three years at Elland Road, and has been on the lookout for a new club ever since.

The search was put on hold while back in Australia with the Socceroos, but he now hopes to tie up a deal within a week.

And his agent Pete Smith says a move to Hull City is on the cards, as their ambition matches the former Olyroo's.

"Hull are a club that would appeal to Neil, of course," Smith told the Hull Daily Mail. "They're a big club that's been in the Premier League.

"They've touched it and felt it and that's where they want to be again."

Burnley, Nottingham Forest, Ipswich and Bristol City are also said to be interested in snaring the former Birmingham City youngster.

But Kilkenny has previously worked with Tigers boss Nigel Pearson when the English-born Aussie flirted with the England national set up as a youth player.

"There's a good set-up there with very good management," added Kilkenny's agent.

"Neil has worked with Nigel before with England Under-18s and knows his knowledge of the game is excellent. Hull are one of the clubs to have been in contact but nothing has been firmed up as yet.

"Neil came back to England on Monday (from international duty with Australia) and we'd hope to have something confirmed in the next week or so.

"Neil wants to get his future sorted quickly and we're in that process of talking to clubs now."
