A Premier League footballer was charged today with attacking a woman in a nightclub, police said.
Metropolitan Police said Marlon King, 28, will appear before magistrates later this month.
The striker, who is on loan to Middlesbrough from Wigan, is alleged to have sexually assaulted and punched a 20-year old woman in a London nightclub in December.
King was arrested on December 10 after an incident at the Soho Revue Bar in Brewer Street, central London, on December 7.
A woman received hospital treatment for a broken nose and split lip.
King was bailed by police to return to a station today, when he was charged.
He was released on bail to appear at City of Westminster magistrates court on February 25 on charges of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and sexual assault by touching, the Met said.
The Wigan Athletic forward was on loan to another Premier League team, Hull, at the time of the alleged incident.
According to the Soho Revue Bar's website, the club - formerly the Raymond Revue Bar - closed on January 29.
