Kisel, 32, revealed after today's first training session with the sky blues that he was in Australia nine years ago for the Olympics.

The midfielder played a full 90 minutes in a 3-1 loss to Ronaldinho's Brazil in Brisbane. He also played a full game in Canberra as the Japanese defeated Slovakia 2-1 but Kisel was on the bench as the Slovaks defeated South Africa 2-1.

Under the guidance of Dusan Radolsky, Slovakia ended bottom of their group.

Kisel trained for the first time with Sydney today at their Macquarie HQ and judging by his performance, the Slovak will add a cutting edge to the sky blues midfield.

Despite not playing a competitive game since November with Sparta Prague, Kisel looked sharp in a half-pitch training game. He linked well, passed accurately and wasn't afraid to shoot from distance.

With over 50 goals in the Czech Republic, he could well be the goal-scoring midfielder Sydney has been looking for.

"It was very nice. I'm really glad I'm here and proud to be a part of FC Sydney," Kisel said after the session.

Quizzed on the much longer three-month off-season, and he was keen to see the positives in it but also conceded that there would be pressure on him being a foreign player in the group.

"It's a new challenge for me," he said. "I want to win another title. If we will have a good team spirit, we will do it. I was here during the Olympics so I know here are some very nice people."

New Czech coach Vitezslav Lavicka says Kisel will add a "professional" element to the sky blues midfield line.

"I'm very happy that Karol is here. He is experienced and he is the original professional. He's important for our young players," said Lavicka.

Kisel says he likes to play central or wide right in midfield. He may well be employed wide as Terry McFlynn and Steve Corica are almost certain starters in central roles.

"It's up to the coach and the tactics we prefer but I like to play central or right side midfielder," Kisel added.

"I want to score some goals, every year I played I scored some nice goals.

"I know Sydney FC is one of the best clubs," he said. "Last year they had not such a good season but we're going to change it this year."

Kisel has also been studying law and hopes to become a lawyer when his football career is over.
