CROCKED Socceroo Patrick Kisnorbo has revealed his pain at missing the 2010 World Cup after sustaining an Achilles injury playing with Leeds United in March.
The 29-year-old defender, who has had a career dotted with injuries, is currently on crutches after undergoing surgery which will see him out of action until at least October.
The Achilles injury means Kisnorbo will not be at the World Cup in South Africa having recently forced his way back into Socceroos contention after missing out at Germany four years ago.
"If I could come back tomorrow I would," Kisnorbo told Leeds United TV. "It's my worst nightmare especially with the timing. It's the end of the season and it's the World Cup and it is tough watching.
"It's hard, but I have to deal with it and deal with it the best way I can."
Kisnorbo, whose Leeds United are still in with a good chance of promotion to England's second tier, is now targeting a return later in the year.
"I'd like to be running by July and the medics have said it could probably be a couple of months into the season before I'm back playing which would be around October," he added.
"I'd like to target September, but I don't want to jinx myself or tempt fate by hoping I'll be back and then not making it.
"Whenever I'm back, I want to be back for good."
