Kisnorbo, 32, was today announced on a one-year deal by the club after returning to the country just two days ago.

But Kisnorbo says that despite the World Cup finals in Brazil looming, he is only here to focus on one thing.

“I’m not even thinking about that (the World Cup),” admitted Kisnorbo. “I just want to play as many games as I can and let the rest take care of itself.”

“I am here to play for Melbourne Heart and do the best I can and hopefully it will be a good season.

“I just wanted to get back and play as many games as I can. Why not come back home and play with a great club, a great coach and great players.”

Kisnorbo returns home to Australia after departing to Heart of Midlothian from South Melbourne in 2003. He then went on to play 126 times for Leicester City and notched up almost 50 appearances for Leeds United in his time in England.

He was also loaned out to Ipswich Town in January of this year, before being released by Leeds in May.

Kisnorbo was called up by his former Leeds United manager Simon Grayson to train with Preston North End in the off-season and retain fitness while he searched for a new club.

He was then offered a deal by the club along with a number of Championship sides, but Kisnorbo decided it was best for him and his family to return home.

“I got offered a few things in the Championship and abroad,” revealed Kisnorbo.

“But I thought the best thing for myself and my family was to come here and start again and just play games.”

Kisnorbo said he used to watch a weekly half-hour A-League highlights show in the U.K.

“The A-League is great,” said Kisnorbo. “You’ve got players like Harry coming back and it’s great for the game. The only way the A-League will go is up-top and if I can help in that then why not.

“There’s a few A-League players in the Socceroos now too which is good to promote the game. “

The defender will link up with Dutchman Rob Wielaert in defence which will free Patrick Gerhardt to move in to a more central midfield role after the injury to marquee Orlando Engelaar.

Kisnorbo is renowned as a hard no-nonsense defender and has notched up a fair few injuries and battle scars in his career.

“I’m not one of those fancy footballers, I just want to do a job and do it the best I can.” said Kisnorbo.

“I’m a defender and I’ve got quite a few battle wounds but that’s part of the job. It’s part of the criteria.”

Despite a few injuries in the past, including one that kept him out of the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, Kisnorbo has been fit for the past year and a half and is roaring to go come the Melbourne derby in round one.

He added: “I’m fit and I just want to play football.”

Kisnorbo is expected to make his debut for the club on Wednesday night in a pre-season friendly against Perth Glory.
