Patrick Kisnorbo has told au.fourfourtwo.com that he is focused on working hard and gaining a spot in the Socceroos starting XI.
Speaking after today’s morning session Kisnorbo said that competition was tough to win a place beside Lucas Neill at the heart of the Socceroos’ defence.
“There's a lot to prove,” he said. “Michael Beauchamp is a good player, you've got Michael Thwaite, so the competition is there. I'm just concentrating on doing well and training hard. I'm fortunate to be in this position that I can get a starting XI spot."
Kisnorbo also stated that he did not have a preference whether the side plays with a back three or a back four, but did back up Vince Grella’s call that no opposition can be taken lightly.
"There's a lot of great players in Asia, and it will be difficult, we can't underestimate any team. We'll take one game at a time."
Kisnorbo expects that the humidity and heat in Thailand may even be worse than the conditions they are currently facing in Singapore. "I'm sure pretty much the whole team hasn't experienced heat like this. We're gonna have to get used it quickly, because if we don't we are going to make it difficult," he said.
With the big-name Socceroos joining the squad, Kisnorbo believes there is a greater confidence within the set-up than the one which assembled before the recent Uruguay re-match in Sydney.
"It's fantastic to have [Mark] Viduka, Harry Kewell and Lucas Neill. It adds a lot of experience and you get a lot of confidence from these players. Hopefully they can pass on what they've learned during their time in the national team."
