The venue for his first taste of football since late April was English non-league side Rushden and Diamonds and the defender managed to get through an hour of the game unscathed.

Kisnorbo suffered a ligament tear in City's penultimate game of last season but has fought his way back to fitness slightly faster than expected.

Speaking after City's 3-0 win over the Diamonds, Leicester reserve team boss Gerry Taggart said: "It was great to see both Paddy and Joe Mattock back in action.

"It has been a long road back for them, especially for Skip, and to get back out on the park is fantastic for both of them and the club."

Kisnorbo will now be hoping to fight his way back into Leicester's promotion-chasing first team and then force his way back into the thoughts of Socceroos coach Pim Verbeek.

During his absence from the international picture, the likes of Chris Coyne, Jade North and Matthew Spiranovic have all emerged to provide Verbeek with further options in the heart of defence.
