INJURY robbed Patrick Kisnorbo of his World Cup chance but the Leeds United defender can take consolation from the accolades and awards thrust his way in recent days.
An achilles injury back in March robbed the defender of his World Cup shot and he also missed out on helping his club side Leeds United win promotion to the Championship.
However, Kisnorbo's contribution to the Elland Road club's success this year was recognised at the club's annual awards night.
Kisnorbo was named player of the year and also players' player of the year.
Despite his injury, Kisnorbo is very happy with life at Leeds and keen to talk about extending his stay.
"I definitely see my long-term future here. What Leeds United do is for them to say," he told the Yorkshire Evening Post.
"We haven't spoken about a new contract because the only priority was promotion but I want to stay for as long as I can.
"If I could finish my career with Leeds then I'd love to but I've only got one year left and it's more a case of whether the coaching staff and the board of directors want to keep me."
