Dortmund have seen Goetze join Bayern Munich in the close-season, while centre-back Felipe Santana departed for Schalke.

A hip injury has also sidelined right-back Lukasz Piszcek, but Klopp has moved to minimalise the impact of those losses with the signings of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Sokratis Papastathopoulos.

Klopp is pleased with Dortmund's business in the transfer window and believes that they have added quality to an already talented squad.

"We've responded to our situation and the problems that arose last season," he told the Bundesliga's official website.

"We need a full-time replacement for Felipe Santana and one for Lukasz Piszczek for the next six months. Sokratis fits the bill perfectly there.

"In midfield, we have to cover for the departures of Moritz Leitner, Mario Goetze and Leonardo Bittencourt and we've found a high-quality solution there, too - with three new players, when you count (academy graduate) Jonas Hofmann alongside Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

"'Auba' can fortunately play as an out-and-out forward as well, so that's us covered there, too. We really do think we're well set and ready to keep following our own path."

Dortmund narrowly missed out on winning the UEFA Champions League last season as they were beaten 2-1 in the final by Bayern, who completed a historic treble by also winning the Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal.

Klopp's men are seen as the closest challengers to Bayern's dominance of the German game, but he stressed they are not solely interested in competing with the Bavarians.

"We have a tremendous amount of talent packed into our squad," he added.

"There are some very gifted players who we have great hopes of and who it's going to be a real pleasure to see developing further.

"Just to be clear here, we're not competing like-with-like against Bayern. It's not something that's an issue for us. We want to regulate the situation so that we can deal well with the present and pave the way for the future a bit at the same time. That's the plan."
