LUKAS Podolski has backed fellow Germany forward Miroslav Klose to shine at the World Cup.
Klose scored just three goals for Bayern Munich last season but is nevertheless expected to get to the nod from coach Joachim Low to start the opening Group D game against Australia on Sunday.
"He has always played a good tournament and I think he will do so this time," said Podolski.
The Cologne forward is desperate for the action to get under way.
"I have trained well and I am glad that it's finally starting," he said.
On being strong favourites to beat the Socceroos in their opener, he added: "It creates a certain amount of pressure, but we want to win."
Podolski also backed Low to continue in his post after the World Cup.
"I hope that Joachim Low will continue with the coaching staff, because they do a good job," he said.
"The decision is not in our hands. And now we're focusing only on the tournament."
