Heavy investment from the Abu Dhabi United Group has transformed the club into title contenders in the Premier League, as well as in Europe.

And Kompany believes that City's domestic title win last season serves as proof that they will ultimately be successful in the Champions League, after two failed campaigns.

"We will win the Champions League one day. It is inevitable," the Belgian told RMC. "The same question arose concerning the Premier League and we did it.

"With the investment being made in all areas of the club, that will surely come. When we see people like [Patrick] Vieira it's one of the things that can help us move forward. In Europe, we will be more competitive."

The defender also brushed off speculation linking him with a move away from the Etihad Stadium, insisting there is no truth in rumours that he is on the brink of agreeing a move to Paris Saint-Germain.

Kompany said: "I am fine at City. When you know the plans of the club, you can only stay. From the moment you consider that you can win as many trophies at City as at any other club, there is no reason to look elsewhere.

"Could I go to Paris Saint-Germain? No, I am a supporter of Marseille."

Roberto Mancini's side's failure in this season's Champions League has been compounded by their inability to match Manchester United in the Premier League title race, but Kompany believes their season will be a success if they can win the FA Cup.

"Has this been a good season? Historically, it is but, having tasted success last year, we still wanted to win. That said, it is not always easy with all the teams who target the Premier League title," Kompany explained.

"Our season will also depend on the cup final. If we win, it'll be fine.

"It will not be easy. The Wembley pitch is huge and Wigan are a team who play good football with their Spanish coach. They play in an unusual system compared to the other teams of the Premier League.

"There is a risk but we were fully awake during the game we played against them recently. We will not be surprised."
