South Korea have become the latest country to declare their intention to bid for either the 2018 and 2022 World Cups.
Korea co-hosted the World Cup with Japan in 2002 but have now officially informed FIFA of their desire to stage football`s biggest tournament alone.
The latest bid means that Asia has five nations interested in hosting either the 2018 or 2022 edition as Australia, Qatar, Indonesia and Japan have also put their names forward.
"It looks as if there is a strong possibility of either the 2018 or the 2022 World Cups being held in Asia," new Korean Football Association President Cho Chung-yun said.
"We decided to take on this challenge as we already have most of the facilities in place from 2002."
