Milligan left the SFS at the end of last season but is still trying to fix himself up with a new club in Europe.

England, Portugal and Germany have all been on Milligan’s recent travel schedule but he has yet to put pen to paper on a contract.

He was also omitted this week from Pim Verbeek’s 35-strong party for the upcoming World Cup qualifier with the Socceroos coach anxious for the player to get himself tied up somewhere.

But one thing’s for sure, an A-League return with Sydney FC isn’t an option for Milligan.

When asked after training at a blistering SFS this morning whether he’d be prepared to leave the door open for Milligan to return, Kosmina said: “No. Mark left this club. He said he didn’t want to be here any more and for me, that’s more than enough. You don’t go out with old girlfriends and you don’t take old players back.”

While Milligan decided to leave Sydney FC, the coach is hoping as many of the present squad as possible will choose to remain.

Clubs are now free to negotiate with out of contract players but Kosmina doesn’t feel too many members of his squad will be dashing for the exits.

He said: “We’re trying to develop a culture at this club which will encourage players to A want to come here or B want to stay here and never want to leave.

“I think we’ve gone a long way to doing that.

"The club has changed a lot from where it was to where it is now. It will only get better. In that light, yes, I think all the players will stay.

“Alex Brosque came out publicly last week and said he’s more than content to stay here. I think it will be the same for the other guys.

“If they want to leave and if someone’s going to give them 20 dollars more down the road and they want to go for that twenty bucks, so be it.

“If they don’t want to be here, I don’t want them around anyway.”
