Steve Corica, Alex Brosque, Iain Fyfe, Simon Colosimo, Chris Payne and Dez Giraldi were all booked in the Pre-Season Cup defeat by Central Coast Mariners last week.

It was Colosimo's second booking of the competition and he misses the Wellington Phoenix match as a result.

The Pre-Season Cup format sees suspensions carried forward into the new campaign so a further booking against Phoenix tomorrow, combined with failure to reach the cup final, could be very costly.

Speaking after training at Sydney Football Stadium today Kosmina said: "We were told yesterday that the yellow cards in this competition carry over.

"We've got six guys on yellows and should one of those pick up another one then we've got a problem. If a lot of them pick up another one then we've got a real problem because we won't have a team. We'll have to forfeit the first game against Melbourne if don't make the (Pre-Season Cup) final.

Kosmina has his own view as to why so many cards have been handed out at this stage.

He said: "There's a whole lot of new interpretations from the referees, we've had meetings with them and a lot of things become in their opinion. I think when it's trial and error you're going to find there's going to be cards dished out.

"At the end of the day we'll try and be sensible tomorrow night but it's a game we want to win and football's competitive. At times things happen where you might end up picking up a yellow card and you're going to pay a price for it.

"For this (suspensions) to carry over could be a bad start to the season for all the teams because I think everyone's got a few people on yellows.

"If it's a trial competition then maybe the sanctions probably shouldn't carry over."
