SYDNEY coach John Kosmina has hailed the success of the showpiece match against LA Galaxy...and delighted he had a last minute change of heart to play Alex Brosque.

Brosque opened the scoring in the game after a nervy start by Sydney when he latched onto a visionary pass from Juninho.
He followed that up with a second after Ufuk Talay chipped him into position - but he very nearly never even made the bench for the game.
"I was going to leave Brosquey out" Kosmina admitted. "He had a corked thigh on Monday and as it was on Sunday night and Monday, he couldn't run properly.
"If he was still in a bit of pain then he wasn't going to start but he was okay. We gave him a start and things turned out okay.
"The partnership between him and Juninho is good - those two work really well together, which is unusual for a Brazilian and a Uruguayan."
The final 5-3 scoreline for Sydney sent the 80,000-plus fans happy with an Australian win and the chance to see a classic David Beckham goal from a freekick.
"It was good value for money, wasn't it?" said Kossie. "You don't expect eight goals in a match.
"We were a little bit over-awed early on but once we got that first goal we settled down, we played some good stuff.
"I think they were a bit nervous to begin with - I think it was the whole thing, not just the Becks factor.
"Only maybe Poppa in the World Cup qualifier had played in front of 80,000 crowd and the atmosphere was fantastic."
He added: "You don't really know what to expect - they're an unknown quantity. They moved the ball around quite well and their movement patterns were good.
"You couldn't have scripted the Beckham goal. You wouldn't even havbe bothered writing something like that because you would have thought it was kids' stuff - Roy Of The Rovers.
"But lo and behold, it happened so it was great. I think Clint Bolton made a fantastic effort to get his fingers to that.
"He probably got closer than a lot of other keepers around the world who are lauded as being better than him. It was a fantastic effort."
Although only a friendly, the action was fiery with Beckham having blow-ups with Brendan Santalab and Robbie Middleby, while Galaxy's Kev Harmes was sent off for his challenges on Juninho and Adam Biddle.
But Kosmina insisted the flare-ups just added to the excitement.
"I don't think it was overly physical," he said after Sydney's yoga recovery session at Bondi.
"There were a couple of nasty tackles but the one with Beckham and Santalab was accidental.
"I think Beckham lost his footing and Santalab went to ground and it looked a lot worse than it really was. I think his ankle was really hurt when he slipped, not when the collision came about.
"If he hadn't slipped he probably would have skipped out of it. The one with Middleby and Beckham was also accidental and Beckham got him back. He could have nailed him but he didn't. I've seen a lot worse."
But he added: "The Harmes one on Juninho from behind was a bit cynical.
"It wasn't so much the tackle on Biddle and Harmes - I thought he used his body well - but it was what he did afterwards which was a little bit cowardly.
"It was unnecessary and it made things a bit difficult to be honest. But from a spectators point of view, it added to the drama of the occasion.
"In reality it probably wasn't the best thing to do. Had it been in a league match, certainly in this country, there would have been a severe price to pay, probably two or three matches minimum."
Kosmina also paid tribute to Sydney's rising stars who were given a chance to shine in the showdown.
"I thought the youngsters did well," he said. "Santalab had a good game, once Adam Biddle got over his nerves, he did exceptionally well, and young Nik was okay as well.
"It was a good performance from everybody. They all played their part."
Although everyone came through the game unscathed - but a cloud is hanging over Juninho who didn't take part in the yoga session - Sydney have lost budding samba striker sensation for the rest of the regular season.
New Brazilian signing Patrick has failed to recover fully from his knee surgery earlier this month.
"Patrick is on the long-term injury list," Kosmina revealed. "He's out for six weeks."
But Kossie has ruled out drafting in another loan star like their new goal hero Michael Bridges, who's been hired out to Sydney by UK Championship side, Hull City.
"I'm not looking for a replacement," he said. "It's too much trouble."
Sydney had been linked with Galaxy's Clint Mathis as a possible new signing but that plan has now been scrapped.
Kosmina added: "We talked to his agents but Mathis is signed up until June so we're not looking at him any more."
