Roar buried their Suncorp hoodoo on Sunday with an emphatic 4-1 win over Perth Glory. Strikers Tahj Minniecon, Michael Zullo and the mesmeric Charlie Miller were the Suncorp circuit breakers in a triple forward threat.

And Queensland may just stick to the formation after Central Coast and Phoenix has success against Sydney in their last two home games (a 3-3 draw and 1-2 loss respectively).

Murdocca says he and fellow midfielder Matt McKay have taken on a slightly more defensive outlook to accommodate the trio. But they're happy to do it if it means the side can go on a winning run.

"It's changed the way we usually play. Before I could get into a lot of attacking positions so it puts a little more responsibility on us… a whole different ball game but it's helping us so Matty and I should be happy," Murdocca told au.fourfourtwo.com.

Three points to the Queenslanders could have them in second. A loss and, as Murdocca says "...we're back with everyone else".

Roar sit in third behind the Reds and Victory and ahead of the Mariners. Sydney FC have been squeezed out of the top four into fifth place, but just two points separate the two Friday night combatants at the SFS.

"It can quickly change in the A-League but if you want to be a title contender, win leagues, you've got to win these sorts of games. It separates the good from the average teams," says Murdocca.

"If we win, maybe we look at ourselves as a championship winning team. Frank's got to make a decision on whether he keeps the same formation or not. We'll have to see."

A victory on Friday night would be a huge boost to Roar. And the ignominy of missing out on last season's grand final and Asia still burns up Roar players.

"We found out how hard to get [into Asia] it is," he said. "It was devastating and it was something a lot of us will never forget.

"We had that chance. That memory comes back to us every once in a while. We let it slip. And we didn't get into the grand final as well."

Roar lost out 3-2 to the Jets in the preliminary final and finished fourth - meaning they missed out on Asia and even the Pan Pacific Soccer Championships in Hawaii. It was a bittter pill they don't want to take again.

He added: "We really want to push this year and get in Asia."

Their cause was helped by Sunday's relative goal flood against an unlucky Perth Glory at Suncorp. Murdocca said Roar created the same number of chances as in previous games.

"But this time we took them. It was always going to happen and I guess Sunday was the day."

As for the surface, Murdocca was so unimpressed he added: "I'd have been happy if they'd cancelled the game. It shouldn't have been played."
