Morten Olsen's men found themselves 2-0 down after just 36 minutes in an absorbing Euro 2012 Group B clash, but they battled their way back into the game and Nicklas Bendtner drew the Scandinavians level with two headers.

However, Silvestre Varela decided the game in Portugal's favour with just three minutes to go, leaving Krohn-Dehli and his team-mates disconsolate.

"I thought we played very well," the Brondby winger told Goal.com.

"After we went behind 2-0, we started playing really well and we found spaces really well, especially behind Ronaldo. He's better going towards the goal than going backwards.

"I thought that when we made it 2-2 it was deserved. I thought we were very good, especially in the second half.

"We could have had a point, but you always need luck, and this time we didn't have the luck on our side. It's a pity."

Denmark will go into their final game in Group B, against leaders Germany, in third but level on points with second-placed Portugal, who face the Netherlands.
