Robbie Kruse’s availability for Australia’s 2018 World Cup intercontinental playoff against Honduras remains in doubt after injury kept him out of club action overnight.
Socceroos coach Ange Postecoglou revealed during the week that Kruse had been battling a knock to his knee.
Kruse didn’t play as VfL Bochum drew 0-0 with Brandon Borrello’s Kaiserslautern in Germany’s 2.Bundesliga on Saturday morning (AEDT).
Kruse also missed Monday’s 0-0 draw with ex-club Fortuna Dusseldorf due to the injury.
“He got a bit of a knock to the knee in the last league game, so he’s a little bit of a concern at the moment as well,” Postecoglou said.
“We’ve had Les Gelis our head physio for the last 10 days. He’s spent time with Mile, Lecks, Krusey and he’s working really closely with the clubs to give the players every chance to be ready.”
Hertha Berlin’s Socceroo Mathew Leckie is also doubtful due to a thigh injury, while Tim Cahill sustained an ankle complaint in Melbourne City’s 1-0 loss to Sydney FC on Friday.
