SOCCEROOS striker Robbie Kruse has wasted no time following international duty by linking up with his new German 2.Bundesliga club Fortuna Dusseldorf this week.
The 22-year-old Australian, who penned a three-year deal with Fortuna, has opted against a break despite being involved in both of the Socceroos' friendlies last week as well as Melbourne Victory's 2011 AFC Champions League campaign over the past few months.
Kruse told Express.de he wanted to move to Germany as soon as possible to make a good impression at the club who finished last term in seventh.
“My opinion is the sooner I settle in, the better this will work out for me,” Kruse said.
“I want to break through here. Therefore I didn't want to miss anything.”
Brisbane-born Kruse, who made his Australia debut against UAE in January, said he wanted to score plenty of goals for his new club.
"I'm an attacker and naturally I'll be measured on goals. I want to score many goals,” Kruse said.
Kruse, who will be joined by his girlfriend in Dusseldorf in two months, said he felt Fortuna was the right club for him at this stage of his career.
"There were several offers. But this is just the thing for me,” Kruse said.
“Dusseldorf is a fantastic city and the 2.Bundesliga is very good. We'll go from here."
Fortuna boss Norbert Meier was happy to see Kruse in Dusseldorf this week, having been impressed by the Aussie when he made a 10-minute appearance as a substitute in Australia's 2-1 win over Germany.
"He has plenty of movement. This we saw already, even when used briefly in the friendly against Germany in Moenchengladbach," Meier told Express.de.
