Kruse is clubless after his departure from Chinese club Liaoning Whowin in May because of unpaid wages. The forward made four first-team appearances for the Chinese outfit.

The 28-year-old, who has had stints with Brisbane Roar and Melbourne Victory, said he was not ready to return to the A-League.

"No not yet, I'm old 28-years-old so I still have a lot to give in my footballing career," he told FourFourTwo.

"The A-League's always going to be there for me when I can come back.

"No disrespect to the A-League, it's still a growing league and it's getting better and better, but at the moment I want to be in Europe and hopefully that can take care of itself."

There has been speculation that Kruse could return to play in Germany, where he has had spells with Fortuna Dusseldorf, Bayer Leverkusen and VfB Stuttgart.

He said he hopes to have his club future sorted soon.

"I hope so," Kruse said. "I just wanted to concentrate on this tournament first and hopefully I can get it sorted afterwards."

The Socceroos play Cameroon on Thursday night (Friday morning AEST) in their second Confederations Cup game. If Australia fails to win they will likely be eliminated from the tournament.

Kruse expects a different type of opponent than Germany, with the Socceroos potentially having more of the ball.

"It's a massively different proposition to the Germany game," he said.

"Germany like to dominate the ball and keep possession. Cameroon, in the first game against Chile, were predominantly counter-attacking so its going to be a different task. Whether they do that against us, we'll find out tomorrow.

"The coaching staff has been analysing the last games they've played so they'll give us all the information we'll need. Hopefully tomorrow there won't be any excuses and we can go out there and put in a good performance.

"We need to get the three points because otherwise the tournament is over for us."
