The Reds moved up to fourth spot with a 2-0 win over Western Sydney on Sunday, making it back-to-back victories.

The triumph was also Adelaide's first on home turf in the A-League this season, giving them momentum ahead of Friday's clash with the Sky Blues at Coopers Stadium.

"We know we play the best team in Sydney," Kurz said.

"I think Sydney FC knows about our quality and we can beat them."

He added: "For us it's important that now we had a win at home.

"The last games we played at home, we lost, so this is good to have that feeling of a win at home."

The German coach was delighted with his side's ability to bounce back after their midweek cup final defeat over 120 minutes.

"I think it was not too easy after the cup final, the 120 minutes," he said.

"I saw today a very good first half. we had alot of big chances. We only scored one goal.

"It's maybe not good enough but I think over 90 mnutes we had control of the game. To the end it's normal that the power of the boys goes a bit down.

"They fought well. I thought it was a good performance."

Kurz also offered his personal opinion on the controversial Video Assistant Referee (VAR) which played a big part in the game.

"Personally I think it's better to discuss after the game with a beer not to find the decision within the game. For me, it's better," he said.

"But they are the new rules, I accept it."
