Adelaide United's new coach Marco Kurz will get his first shot at silverware just four months into the job after the Reds defeated Western Sydney 2-1 on Tuesday night.
The inaugural FFA Cup winners will now meet last year's runners-up, Sydney FC, in the final on November 21 at a yet-to-be determined venue.
Kurz paid tribute to his injury depleted side who were without key players Taylor Regan, Vince Lia and Ersan Gulum for the semi-final showdown at Campbelltown Stadium.
And while the Wanderers dominated possession and shots, the Reds were more decisive with their chances.

Kurz told Fox Sports: "The team worked hard, I think the second half we made a very fantastic game.
"We scored early the second goal and then we stayed in the defence really well. We had a lot of chances...the last passes not good enough.
"But look to the boys they worked so hard and I think it's correct that Adelaide play in the final."
"I'm very proud to be the coach for this team," he added, before making a pitch for the final to be played in Adelaide..
Imports Johan Absalonsen (13') and Daniel Adlung (58') ensured the win despite a Panenka penalty kick by Brendon Santalab reducing the deficit with 20 minutes on the clock.
Captain Isaias, who gave away the penalty, was forced to drop deep to support the backline - with two young centrebacks Jordan Elsey and Ben Warland charged with the responsibility of keeping the home attack at bay.
Wanderers had a late chance to draw the game but the German coach was understandably relieved to get the job done in regulation time, following a short turnaround and another match looming on Saturday against table-toppers Melbourne City.
"I think you have a feeling for a result and tonight I was 100% sure in the second half," he said.
"(But) when when they scored...I think of overtime - that's my feeling - but I'm happy we finished off in the 90 minutes."
