Adelaide scored three second-half goals to defeat the Victory 3-0 at Marden Sports Complex on Wednesday.

New Danish winger Johan Absalonsen opened the scoring with a stunning strike from just outside the area in the 53rd minute.

Another new recruit, George Blackwood, converted a penalty shortly after before Nathan Konstandopoulos rounded out the scoring late on.

It was a big win for Adelaide, who had only snuck into the Round of 16 with a narrow 1-0 win over the Newcastle Jets.

But for Kurz, there is still a long way to go for his side ahead of the A-League season.

"We still have a lot of work [to do] in the next six weeks," Kurz told Fox Sports after the match.

"We saw tonight we can play well against one of the two best teams in the league.

"We controlled the second half and the whole team improved.

"Today is good and the win is good, but tomorrow we have training and we start again."
He added: "I think in the first twenty to twenty-five minutes we were too afraid and we dropped back too much.

"But then we changed a lot and said we must get more pressure on the ball and played with more bravery.

"And the team did a good job and I want to congratulate them because I think it was a big win today."
