Mallorca have gone to the top of the La Liga table with a 1-0 victory over Sociedad, while Malaga also won to slot into second position.
While Barcelona are expected to move back into the overall lead with a win over Valencia on Sunday, Mallorca and Malaga ensured their time in the spotlight with 1-0 wins on Saturday to be tied on seven points at the top of the table, with the former ahead on goals scored.
Mallorca were the more attacking team in their match with Sociedad, taking 15 shots to 10 for the game.
But Joaquin Caparros' side had to wait until the 75th minute to dispatch Sociedad.
Victor was the man to score the decisive goal, nodding Javi Marquez's cross past Claudio Bravo in the visitors' goal.
Malaga continued their surprisingly good start to the La Liga season with a 1-0 win away to Zaragoza thanks to a header from Nacho Camacho.
With their Qatari owners seemingly having lost interest prior to the new season, Malaga have lost many of the players who were key to their fourth-placed finish last season.
But despite that, Manuel Pellegrini's side have yet to lose after three games, with midfielder Camacho ensuring victory against Zaragoza when he got his head to Eliseu's cross in the 56th minute.
Newly promoted Celta Vigo grabbed their first victory of the new season, beating Osasuna 2-0.
Iago Aspas scored the opener for Celta in the 69th minute, while Mario Bermejo ensured the home fans left the stadium happy when he scored in the third minute of injury time to guarantee the win.
In the other La Liga match on Saturday, Deportivo La Coruna drew 1-1 with Getafe.
