MICHAEL Laudrup is satisfied one year in the Getafe hotseat was enough as he prepares to take charge of the team for the last time on Sunday when Real Betis visit the Coliseum.
The former Denmark international has told president Angel Torres he will leave at the end of the campaign, despite having another year left to run on his contract, and justified his decision by saying it was in the nature of the modest club to continually turn over players and coaches.
He is their third manage in the four years they have been in the top flight after Quique Sanchez Flores, who moved on to Valencia in 2005, and Bernd Schuster who joined champions Real Madrid last year.
"You have to choose your moment knowing that this club undergoes a fundamental change every year," Laudrup said.
"Last year 12 or 13 new players were brought in and this year, from what I have heard, the same will happen again.
"One or two years is the standard time of all players and coaches here, and I think now is the right moment for me to leave."
Getafe's impressive season, reaching a second consecutive Copa del Rey final, and the quarter-finals of the UEFA Cup in their first European adventure, was almost spoilt as the spectre of relegation reared over the last few weeks.
But the goalless draw at Real Valladolid last Sunday guaranteed their future in the Primera Liga, leaving them 13th, and four points above the bottom three with one game left to play.
"You can see everywhere that people are more relaxed after last weekend. It has been a very intense season," added Laudrup.
"We all went out for a dinner yesterday and we all said we wanted to finish on a high by winning the last game. It would be the perfect end to a fabulous season."
Getafe's opponents Betis are in a similar situation with their season effectively over. Although they lost 2-0 to Sevilla in the city derby last weekend they lie 14th on the same number of points as Getafe.
Uncertainty surrounds the future of their coach Paco Chaparro, who, despite saving them from the drop, has not been given any indication yet if he is going to continue next season.
The reserve-team boss stepped up to replace the sacked Hector Cuper at the start of December, with the side second-bottom in the standings.
"This club has spent the last three years fighting the wrong battle - the one to avoid relegation," said defender Nano.
"This club should be among the top eight and needs to act to make sure what has happened doesn't happen again.
"For the future they should go with Chaparro. It would be much better for everyone to know who the boss was for next season now, so that he could start planning for next season as soon as possible."
Chaparro will be without injured defender Melli, and midfielder Arzu who is suspended.
