EXCLUSIVE: Both the National Youth League and Women's League are on track to launch this season, insists FFA boss Ben Buckley.
He told au.fourfourtwo.com: "Our goal for the Women's League is still October this year and we're working through the models with the A-League clubs, the state federations and Institutes of Sport.
"We're optimistic we can get that in place for October. As for the Youth League, that will kick off in September once the state leagues have finished.
"We're really excited about that. It's going to be a great platform for the best next generation players to show their qualities every week."
Each of the A-League clubs already has their youth structure in place with youngsters having been selected through trials to join the junior set-ups.
It is expected that National Youth League matches will either be played as curtain-raisers to A-League fixtures or in the 24 hours following the game.
Seven of the eight A-League teams will take part. Wellington Phoenix still hope to gain admission to the competition, probably with an Australian base, but will have to wait at least another year.
