Sydney have received plenty of plaudits for their display against Melbourne Victory but as far as Lavicka is concerned his team is only as good as their next game and wants another strong showing against Adelaide United on Friday.

"I appreciate the players' performance, I appreciate the support from our fans but now we are focusing for the next game against Adelaide," said Lavicka. "We were happy because we have good result and good performance.  It's very good feedback for the players (and) for all of us, but in this moment (it is) the past."

The Sky Blues have been at or near the top of the table since the start of the season, but in recent weeks they have sent an ominous warning to their rivals for the A-League title.

Coach Lavicka is happy with the improvement he's seen from his players, but conscious of the fact there are many more matches to be played between now and the finals.

"Football is unpredictable, every game is different.  Melbourne is past, now (we are) focusing for Adelaide game," he said.  "We have season target, but we have individual targets during the season.  Last week we reached a good target, but season is (still) going and we need to concentrate and be ready.

"I am watching the improvement of the players, I am watching that every good result and performance brings the players more confidence, but we need to be still hard working and humble, to have unity - same pillars as we have had all season."

Sydney FC have a good record against Adelaide United and edged out the Reds 1-0 when the two sides met at Sydney Football Stadium in August.

The round 11 contest between the two teams will be played at Hindmarsh Stadium in Adelaide on Friday night.
