VITEZSLAV Lavicka wants Sydney FC to display more speed and aggression after seeing the club's unbeaten start to the campaign ended by Gold Coast United.
Two goals from Shane Smeltz gave Sydney a big hill to climb as they trailed 2-0 but they remained in the match at Skilled Park, especially when substitute Steve Corica squeezed home a header to make it 2-1.
However, the Moore Park men couldn't find an equaliser and defeat saw the hosts reclaim top spot in the competition.
Lavicka congratulated Gold Coast after the match. "It was good game (but) they were probably better than us, especially in first half," he said.
The Sydney boss saw plenty to work on in training next week as the harbour city outfit prepare to entertain North Queensland Fury.
Lavicka added: "Being down two goals we showed good character to get back in (the) game. (But) we have things to work on this week - we must play quicker and be more aggressive."
