EXCLUSIVE: Sydney FC CEO Edwin Lugt says no decision has been made on the future of head coach Vitezslav Lavicka whose contract expires in mid-2011.
Speaking last night at Sydney’s Star City at a debate organised by the local Dutch community, Lugt was tightlipped about the coaching scenario at the sky blues.
“I can’t really say anything about that,” he told au.fourfourtwo.com
When pressed, Lugt said there was a date in the Czech coach’s contract by which time both parties had to express their thoughts on whether or not to continue the partnership.
“We haven’t reached that date yet,” he added with a smile.
However, Lugt was more clear on other issues and was dismissive of Sydney press speculation that the club was now shifting focus to the Asian Champions League rather than the A-League.
“Absolutely we are not moving our focus," he said. "We’ll do everything we can to get to the A-League final series and once we’re there and we get our players back and fit, and everything starts to gel, what then can happen?
“I think we’re still only six points from sixth spot. For us it’s two separate isolated issues – the A-League and the ACL.”
