Lazaridis is facing a possible year-long ban for taking a banned substance. The substance used was Finasteride, something that is used to treat hair loss.

It seems that a communication breakdown has contributed to the current situation as the winger is believed to have been cleared to use the substance while still at Birmingham City.

The Australia legend is widely regarded as one of football’s true gentlemen and a number identities and former teammates have all come out in support of the Perth Glory star. If Lazaridis is found guilty in Sydney next week, it is almost certain to spark widespread uproar from Australia’s football fraternity.

Any ban would also surely be a huge blow for Perth Glory’s chances next season. While he made just 11 appearances in Version 2, it is anticipated Lazaridis is preparing for a big season.
