After losing out on automatic promotion in the final seconds of the season and being held to a draw in the first leg the hosts were keen to book their place at Wembley.

With the scores level after the first leg it was all to play for at Griffin Park and it was the hosts who raced into a 2-0 lead inside the opening 40 minutes before an Adam Rooney strike for Swindon gave them hope.

Brentford made it 3-1 after half-time before the visitors mounted a fantastic comeback that concluded with a 95th-minute equaliser from Aden Flint.

After sharing six goals in normal time they battled through 30 minutes of extra-time before the game went to penalties.

With so much at stake the standard of penalties was very high and it was clear that one miss was going to be costly.

Unfortunately for Swindon's Miles Storey he saw his spot-kick saved by Simon Moore and that enabled Adam Forshaw to score the winning penalty and send Brentford into the final.
There they will play Yeovil Town for a place in the Championship next season after Gary Johnson's side registered a 2-0 home win over Sheffield United.
That secured their passage to the final with a 2-1 aggregate victory, Kevin Dawson and Ed Upson with the goals.
