Ex-Adelaide United forward Leckie, who was in the news last week after Moenchengladbach forced him out of Australia's squad for the U-20 World Cup, was a 79th-minute substitute in the victory.

Moenchengladbach's first round DFB-Pokal triumph against third tier Regensburg was sealed by goals from Martin Stranzl, Marco Reus and Igor de Camargo.
