Socceroo Mathew Leckie spurned two golden chances to score as Ingolstadt lost 1-0 away to Borussia Dortmund in the German Bundesliga overnight.
Leckie, who hasn't scored at club or international level since his goal against Greece in June, came close on 19 minutes with an angled header from a corner which forced a great save.
The Australian wasted a golden opportunity shortly after half-time, when a Dortmund defensive error opened up a one-on-one chance for Leckie.
However, Leckie spurned the opening, spraying his left-foot shot well over the crossbar with only goalkeeper Roman Burki to beat.
Deep in stoppage-time Leckie had a chance to equalise, when Burki's punch fell kindly to the Socceroo unmarked inside the box.
Leckie's control left him with a left-foot volley opportunity but he sent the chance over the bar again.
The result leaves Ingolstadt in the drop zone, second last and winless in their past four games.
