ADELAIDE United's Young Socceroo star Mathew Leckie has been ruled out of tonight's clash with Wellington Phoenix after suffering a late knee injury at training yesterday.
Leckie overextended his knee and after monitoring the injury this morning, the club’s medical staff and Head Coach Rini Coolen decided the 19 year old would not take his place against Phoenix.
The match was set to be Leckie’s first game back since returning from the AFC U19 Championships with the Qantas Young Socceroos, but Reds fans will have to wait another week to see him in action again.
Coolen expects the injury to only keep the young gun out for just one game and that he should be available for United’s next game against Melbourne Victory at Etihad Stadium next Friday night.
However Argentinean playmaker Marcos Flores is expected to start against Wellington after overcoming his hamstring injury.
