A rough clash between Socceroo Mat Leckie and Kingsley Coman has resulted in ankle surgery for the French star, just months out of the World Cup.
Leckie and Coman both dove feet-first for the ball in Hertha Berlin's 0-0 draw with Bayern Munich, resulting in a sickening clash that the Australian winger was lucky to escape unscathed.
Unfortunately for the French, their pacey winger wasn't so fortunate, with scans revealing partial tears to multiple ankle ligaments requiring surgery.
Bayern coach Jupp Heynckes said the side's team doctor originally downplayed the extent of the injury, eventually admitting the 21-year-old would be out for much longer than originally expected.

While an injury of this calibre would likely still enable Coman to limp into the World Cup in June, he'll miss Didier Deschamp's squad for France's March friendlies against Colombia and Russia.
To make matters worse, fellow French talismanic winger, Franck Ribery, has had a similarly mixed start to the season after his own injury woes, only netting twice from a hatful of chances for the Bavarian giants this season.
