There have been numerous rumours, theories and water-cooler conversations about exactly how van Marwijk's Socceroos will play.

Will they park the bus, play on the counter or hack like Nigel de Jong at the 2014 World Cup?

Leckie's front-and-centre of the Socceroos threats entering the World Cup, the pacey Hertha Berlin man one of the few current crop playing regularly in one of Europe's top five divisions.

He believes van Marwijk will play a style to suit the speedsters.

"He wants to move the ball quickly and play fast," Leckie said. "We'll look more over that in the next few days but I think he really wants to play the modern way.

"The more we do, the better we'll get at it. He hasn't really cemented the formation we'll play but we trained the 4-2-3-1 yesterday.

"He's strong on discipline and all round one-percenters, accuracy of passing, the movement is very good."

Leckie stands to earn his 50th cap under the Dutch boss, who the 27-year-old calls "a great coach".

Following his time working under a slew of Germany's best coaches in the Bundesliga, that's no easy praise.

"It’s a huge accomplishment for me,” Leckie said.

"His history shows he's a great coach.

"He's been here and he knows how it is. Just the couple of meetings we've had have been really convincing."
