A Carling Cup match against Fulham on Wednesday is followed by a crunch clash with fellow strugglers Derby three days later.

Lee expects two tough games but successive draws against Tottenham yesterday in the Barclays Premier League and Rabotnicki on Thursday in the UEFA Cup have lightened his mood a little.

Bolton boss Lee, who saw his side move off the bottom of the table with yesterday's 1-1 stalemate, said: "We will get a bit more confident from taking a point against Tottenham. Football is all about confidence.

"But there were signs of how committed the players are to the cause and that was pleasing.

"I'm looking for improvement in each and every game and we were a bit more solid against Tottenham than we have been.

"We defended balls into our area a lot better than we have been doing.

"I like the boys to be comfortable in possession. That is important to me."

Bolton were so committed that goalkeeper Jussi Jaaskelainen and defender Abdoulaye Meite squared up in stoppage time as Tottenham went in search of the winner.

Lee was not complaining, in fact the incident pleased him.

"I have no problem with what happened" he said. "It's an example of two players being committed to the cause."

The former Liverpool coach intends to mix up his squad for a busy schedule domestic and European games.

However, Lee could be tempted to stick with former Real Madrid star Ivan Campo, who made his first appearance of the season yesterday.

The Spaniard, one of former boss Sam Allardyce's most important signings, remains an immense favourite with the supporters and Bolton looked a better side with him in it.

He marked his return to the team by scoring an equaliser after Robbie Keane had put Tottenham ahead.

Lee said: "Ivan wants to make an impact, like most players.

"We brought him back against Tottenham and he wanted to do well in front of the fans as he's a popular figure. He certainly did that.

"We need strength and depth as we have massive games coming up and all our players are available for all competitions.

"We had a difficult game last Thursday, another one yesterday and one more to follow on Wednesday against Fulham."
