Exclusive: Leeds United are interested in bringing Bradford City's Australian defender James Meredith to Elland Road next season.
Meredith, who has played two games for the Socceroos, is off-contract at the end of the 2016/2017 campaign.
Bradford want to sign him to a new deal, and FourFourTwo understands local rivals Leeds are also keen on the lefy back.
"I've had chats with the club [Bradford]," Meredith told The Bradford Telegraph & Argus.
"I think it will probably be something that will happen later on down the line.I think they are happy with how I'm doing and there will be plans for the future. I'm okay with it as it is at the moment. I'm just enjoying the football and we'll see what happens.
"It would be great to sign for the club again. It would be better to get a promotion and re-sign – that would be fantastic. But for now I'm just working on trying to get the team in the best position possible."
Meredith has been with the Bantams since 2012 after joining from York City. He has more than 150 appearances for the English club.
Meredith has been a mainstay for Bradford this season, missing only three League One matches. The 28-year old has made 22 appearances in all competition, scoring two goals and acruing two assists.
Meredith is keen to play in the Championship and Bradford are pushing for promotion. Currently the Yorkshire club is in fourth place on the table, six points below third-placed Bolton.
