ASTON Villa's Socceroo Shane Lowry has received a positive injury diagnosis paving the way for a loan return to League One club Leeds United.
The 20-year-old defender had spent almost two months at Elland Road before he returned to Villa Park last week after injuring his knee.
But scans have revealed no serious damage to Lowry's knee and it is understood Villa are happy to see him return to Leeds.
Aston Villa boss Martin O'Neill said: "Shane's injury is clearing up. His is one of those loan deals where he can go back so he could go back out."
Leeds boss Simon Grayson had said last week: "If he comes back, and when he comes back, depends on his injury.
"He's gone back to Aston Villa for some treatment and some scans so we'll see where we are on that one."
It is believed Grayson may be keen to extend Lowry's loan deal until the end of the League One season.
The Perth-born defender had been a regular for Leeds at leftback prior to the injury, although Aidy White has impressed in his absence.
Lowry, who has made only three first-team appearances for Villa, is in the final year of his current contract with the Villains.
