LEEDS have completed the signing of Finland striker Mikael Forssell on a deal lasting until the end of the season.
Forssell had trained with Simon Grayson's squad recently after leaving German club Hannover in May.
The 30-year-old former Chelsea and Birmingham player is confident the competition for places at Elland Road will bring out the best in him.
He told his new club's official website, www.leedsunited.com: "I'm delighted. I'd had three good years in Germany with Hannover, but I've missed English football and really wanted to come back here.
"To come to a club like Leeds is fantastic. It's such an historic club, the team is good, the lads are positive, the facilities are unbelievable and the fans look brilliant."
Leon Clarke is expected to make a temporary switch to CHESTERFIELD from SWINDON tomorrow.
Clarke was involved in a spat with Paolo Di Canio on the County Ground touchline after the Carling Cup defeat to Southampton last week, with Di Canio later saying the striker would never play for him again.
The 26-year-old will aim to bolster the frontline of a Spireites side which has managed just four league goals this season.
COVENTRY boss Andy Thorn insists Lukas Jutkiewicz is going nowhere amid reports of a move from MIDDLESBROUGH to sign the striker on loan.
Boro tried to take the former Everton forward to the Riverside on transfer deadline day and are understood to have made another move for his services now the emergency loan window has reopened.
But Thorn told the Coventry Telegraph: "Why would we loan him out? If we were looking to get rid of him we would have sold him in the window, so it makes no sense to send him out on loan."
BLACKPOOL defender Miguel Llera has joined BRENTFORD on an emergency loan until December.
SCUNTHORPE have been dealt a blow after goalkeeper Josh Lillis was ruled out for up to three months with damaged knee ligaments.
BRADFORD assistant manager Colin Cooper has quit the club after accepting a coaching position with MIDDLESBROUGH.
Cooper, 44, arrived at Valley Parade in March as number two to Peter Jackson, who unexpectedly resigned two weeks ago.
Phil Parkinson was named as Jackson's successor last week and former Boro and Nottingham Forest defender Cooper accepted his offer to stay on at the club as his assistant, but has since opted for a fresh start.
OXFORD chairman Kelvin Thomas has dismissed suggestions striker James Constable could be on his way to BOURNEMOUTH, while CHELTENHAM have completed the loan signing of England Under-21 international goalkeeper Jack Butland from BIRMINGHAM.
CRAWLEY have signed PETERBOROUGH defender Scott Griffiths on a month's loan and PORTSMOUTH's teenage midfielder Lewis Stockford has joined non-league Salisbury City for a month.
GILLINGHAM manager Andy Hessenthaler has revealed a potential move for free agent Kevin Lisbie remains a possibility following a conversation with the striker this week.
PORT VALE winger Lewis Haldane has undergone surgery following his double leg fracture.
