A-League new boys Western United are set to take on English side Leeds United in a pre-season friendly.
FTBL understands Western United are close to agreeing a deal to face the Championship club, former home of Mark Viduka and Harry Kewell among other Socceroos, in July.
The Whites will be in Australia during pre-season, with matches against Manchester United in Perth and Western Sydney Wanderers in Parramatta already confirmed.
A fixture against Marcelo Bielsa's men, who are fighting for promotion into the English Premier League, would be a great way for the new Victorian club to start life. Leeds are currently third on the Championship ladder, five points below leaders Norwich City, but have led the competition for most of the season.
Western United have confirmed the signings of seven players and two assistant coaches to date. Several more are expected to be revealed in the next few weeks.
Western United will play their home games at Geelong's Kardinia Park for their first two seasons, before moving to a purpose-built facility in Tarneit, in Melbourne's western suburbs.
