Joachim Low's side take on Turkey in the last four on Wednesday and the Stuttgart stopper is desperate to help his team book a place in Sunday's final.

Lehmann was in goal when Germany were knocked out by Italy at the semi-final stage at the 2006 World Cup and this time he wants to go one better.

The former Arsenal man told the Bild newspaper: "For me this is the most important game. I don't want to go out again in the semi-finals.

"As a player I can not promise a victory, only that I will push myself and give my life."

He added: "You know what I mean - my sporting life. My private life belongs to my family."

The 38-year-old refused to be drawn on whether he would retire from international football after the tournament.

Former Germany stopper Oliver Kahn retired from the national team after the World Cup two years ago, but Lehmann is not willing to commit to a decision on his future just yet.

"I am only concentrating on the game on Wednesday," Lehmann said. "Also if we should make it to Vienna (for the final) I don't believe that I will announce a decision immediately after the final. I don't have any time pressures."
