Ajax forward Leonardo claims he is on the brink of joining Al Sadd after agreeing a deal with the Qatari club.
The 25-year-old Brazilian joined Ajax in January 2007 but has made only 12 appearances for the Amsterdammers as he struggled to establish himself.
He is now waiting for the green light to secure a move away from the Amsterdam ArenA.
"We agreed a deal, but we are waiting for the fax with bank guarantees," Leonardo told Sportweek.
"If it takes too long I will stay with Ajax and I will try to break through to the first team. The Ajax coaches told me they want me to stay, but I must get playing time. I will not get lucky while sitting on the bench."
