Socceroo Tomi Juric’s participation in next week’s World Cup qualifier against Thailand is in doubt after sustaining a knee injury overnight.
Juric was forced off after just eight minutes in FC Luzern’s 2-2 draw with Young Boys in the Swiss Super League.
FourFourTwo understands it is feared Juric has suffered ligament damage in his knee and he will undergo an MRI scan in Switzerland on Monday.
The 25-year-old striker was due to fly out of Switzerland for Bangkok on Monday, with the injury meaning his arrival will definitely be delayed.
Luzern boss Markus Babbel said: “Juric has twisted his knee. It could be an inner strain.”
Last week Juric had a similar scare, hobbling off early in Luzern’s 3-2 win over Lausanne.
Socceroos boss Ange Postecoglou overlooked forwards Tim Cahill and Apostolos Giannou for the squad to face Thailand, with Brisbane Roar’s Jamie Maclaren promoted.
Robbie Kruse, Mathew Leckie and Nathan Burns are Australia’s other attacking options in the squad.
