Carlo Ancelotti's side welcomed back star striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic to league action after his two-game suspension and the Swede made all the difference, playing a part in all four goals as PSG moved to the top of the table.

Former Barcelona defender Maxwell opened the scoring on 17 minutes after turning home a deflected Ibrahimovic cutback from just outside the six-yard box.

The Swede was involved again in the 63rd minute, setting up Blaise Matuidi, who coolly slotted the ball past Yohann Thuram-Ulien in the Troyes goal to double PSG's advantage.

Ibrahimovic then scored the 200th league goal of his career after 70 minutes, thrashing the ball in on off the crossbar before he wrapped up the victory by netting his second with one minute remaining.

Elsewhere, Rennes' impressive three-game winning streak was brought to an end after they fell 1-0 at home to Evian TG.

After a scoreless first half, Zouheir Dhaouadi scored what proved to be the match-winner in the 79th minute to give his side a much-needed three points.

The loss sees Rennes miss the opportunity to move into the top four, while Evian take their season tally to 15 points, one clear of the drop zone.

Bastia snapped a two-game losing streak as they defeated Lorient 2-1 at the Stade Armand Cesari.

All the goals came in the first half, with Anthony Modeste opening the scoring for the hosts 12 minutes in before Lamine Kone restored parity for Lorient on 31 minutes.

Attacking midfielder Wahbi Khazri found the net just four minutes later to give Bastia the lead once more and they were able to hold on to secure all three points.

In the other matches on Saturday, Nice saw off Sochaux 1-0 away from home, Nancy and Ajaccio drew 1-1, while Reims played out a 0-0 draw with Brest.
