Suarez later apologised for his behaviour, while Liverpool also criticised their player after revealing that the Uruguayan had told the club he would shake Evra's hand.

"We were very disappointed by Saturday's incident and have discussed our concerns with the club," a Standard Chartered statement read.

A global financial services company, Standard Chartered pays Liverpool 20 million pounds per year as a shirt sponsor.
