Energie Cottbus goalkeeper Gerhard Tremmel faces a probe by the German Football Association for his over-exuberant celebrations following Saturday's 2-1 win over Hansa Rostock.
The 29-year-old climbed a fence in front of the Cottbus fans after the crucial victory and shouted unsporting remarks about other clubs into a megaphone.
The DFB are to review television images of the incidents and have asked Tremmel to provide a statement explaining his actions.
"It was a very emotional moment after such an important win and I certainly did not want to insult anybody," Tremmel explained to Lausitzer Rundschau newspaper.
