Low intended to summon together a large squad of players in mid-April to assess their fitness and condition over three days before handing his preliminary squad list for the World Cup to FIFA.

However, he has now agreed to forego what would be the final opportunity to meet with his potential squad members before announcing his final 23-man selection in May.

"The date had been agreed with the DFL (German Football League), but we have been thinking about it recently and come to the conclusion that, out of respect for the interests of the Bundesliga clubs, we will not be staging these fitness tests," he told the website of the German Football Association.

"It is pleasing to see Bayern, Wolfsburg and HSV (Hamburg) still playing in Europe and that is certainly an additional burden for them.

"Furthermore, clubs like Schalke, Leverkusen, Bremen and even Stuttgart have extremely important weeks ahead of them.

"Since our selection of players largely comes from these clubs, we have called the tests off.

"We have agreed to accommodate the clubs this time and we can build the fitness tests into the schedule for our preparations for the World Cup in our training camps."

Low has also hit back at the agents of certain players who are attempting to bring their clients into the frame for a place in his squad, insisting that he has already made up his mind on a group of 33 players which will eventually be whittled down to 23 for the World Cup.

That means the likes of Kevin Kuranyi, Torsten Frings and Timo Hildebrand will not find a back door into the set-up.

"We have made clear statements about certain individuals that we will not keep on repeating," he said.

"We have settled on a squad of 33 players so we are not going to get distracted by clubs or agents who have their own personal interests in bringing their players into contention for a place at the World Cup.

"We know the Bundesliga inside out. We are relaxed about it."
