The Euro 2008 runners-up and 2010 World Cup semi-finalists defeated the South Americans 3-2 in Stuttgart with young debutant Mario Gotze delivering on his potential with one of the goals.

After finishing third in the 2006 World Cup, Low believes his side is now on track to do even better in Poland and the Ukraine next summer.

"We have got to work towards taking the next step after going so close in 2008 and 2010," he told ARD television.

"I am glad that I have so many options at moment.

"There is a battle for places throughout the team with the really young players putting pressure on the youngsters, so that is good."

Nineteen-year-old Gotze drew parallels with Lionel Messi after his stirring performance for Borussia Dortmund in their Bundesliga opener last Friday night and he showed he can do the same even on the biggest stage as he started his first international match.

"He has extraordinary technique," said Low.

"He sees things in every direction, knows where everybody is and then delivers great passes, timed correctly.

"He takes the ball well and does great things."

Bastian Schweinsteiger's penalty in the 61st minute gave the hosts the lead and Gotze doubled their advantage six minutes later.

Robinho pulled one back for Brazil in the 71st minute, but 10 minutes from time, Andre Schurrle sealed an impressive Germany victory in front of 54,700 delighted fans.

Neymar grabbed a second for Brazil in stoppage time, but Germany's victory was as deserved as it was impressive.
